About Us - Accreditions & Affiliations
In recent years, GEI has made significant progress through the adoption and successful implementation of the newest technology and practices, enabling the provision of the highest quality care in ophthalmic services.
GEI is the first eye care center to adopt a multi-specialty services approach in ophthalmology in India. Some of recognizable achievements include:
PHACO stitch-less cataract surgery
GEI was the first institute in Chandigarh to introduce the sophisticated Phacoemulsification (stitch less surgery) method of cataract surgery in 1993.
ISO 9001:2000 certified eye Hospital
Grewal Eye Institute is first Eye Institute in India to be awarded ISO 9001:2000 certification in the year 2003. The scope of certification includes the medical and surgical eye care facilities. In 2006 we successfully completed the ISO 9001:2000 recertification survey.
ISO 9001:2008 certified eye Hospital
In 2009 we successfully completed the ISO 9001:2008 recertification survey.
Participated in Eye care camps abroad
GEI pioneered the planning and implementation of eye care camps and workshops abroad, especially in Africa, in collaboration with Rotary International.
Fellowship Program
GEI pioneered the ophthalmology fellowship program in the private sector since 1999.
Gold medal awarded to Dr. S.P.S Grewal
Dr. NareshTrehan awarded the, IIRSI (Intraocular Implant & Refractive Society India) Gold Medal to Dr. Grewal in 2006 for his distinguished service in ophthalmology.
C3R treatment for Keratoconus
Grewal Eye Institute launched the Corneal Collagen Crosslinking (C3R) treatment for Keratoconus first time in the Indian subcontinent in September 2006.
First eye Institute in Chandigarh to get affiliation for DNB course and degree course for B.SC Optometry Dec In 2007.
PHACO Training Program
GEI is the first Institute in the North India to impart training for PHACO emulsification to the forth coming cataract surgeon from 2007.
JCI - Joint Commission International Accreditation. 24th May 2007
Highest quality certification "Joint Commission International" (Division JCAHO, U.S. Accreditation To The Institute for excellence in Patient Care and Health Care Delivery.
Affiliation of Educational institution to Grewal Eye Institute
Diplomate of National Board of examination DNB - approved in July 2007.
"School of Optometery" affiliated to Indira Gandhi Open University November 2007.
First in having satellite centre in Punjab, Haryana & Himachal.
JCI - Joint Commission International Accreditation. 29th July 2010
