| Objectives of Training |
|
|
Provide training to individuals in different of medical, investigative and surgical ophthalmology. |

| Description |
|
| 1 year Post M.D, program providing comprehensive internship in all aspects of ophthalmology. |
|
| One year fellowship training programme in General ophthalmology at GEI. The fellowship programme aims that the fellow at the end of training should be able to inculcate good clinical practice and patient etiquettes. He should be aware of the basic working of all the equipment he is supposed to learn to use. |
|
- The candidate should be able to carry out slit lamp biomicroscopy with proficiency. He should be able to use slit lamp in different modes of examination including direct illumination, focal illumination, sclerotic scatter, retro illumination.
- Perform gonioscopy and interpret and document the gonoscopy findings.
- Record intraocular pressure with Goldman Applanation tonometer.
- Use contact lenses for fundus examination. (Goldman 3 mirror, macular, mainster and wide field lens.)
- Flouroscien staining of cornea and its interpretations
- Schirmer test and Tear film breakup time.
- Corneal drawings.
- The candidate should be able to perform Binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy. He should be proficient in the use of the instrument. He should be able to examine the periphery of retina with scleral indentation and should be able to draw fundus drawing.
- The candidate should be able able to perform ultrasound examination, A scan, B scan and pachymetry and interpret the results.
- The candidate should be able able to record vision and use auto refractometer and keratometer and be able to do a satisfactory subjective testing.
- The candidate should be able able to understand the basics and principal of Fundus camera and Flourescien angiography. He should be able to do FFA and actively participate in the interpretation of the angiograms.
- The candidate should be able exposed to the application of laser in ophthalmology. He should observe the laser treatment of the retina. He should be involved in the pre-laser workup of the cases and should do five cases during his fellowship.

- Projects and write something. Decide the topic provide the guidelines.
- Should attend one AIOS Conference. (Rail fare and registration)
- Should be insured again malpractice.
- Plans year chart of posting and give it to the fellow.
- Wear white overall.
